Monday, April 15th is a Spirit Wear Day.
Students are welcome to wear a SSM Spirit Top with Uniform Bottoms.

3rd-5th Grade Music Program
The 3rd-5th Grade Music Program will be on Thursday, April 25th at 2pm and 6pm! Families are invited to join us for either or both performances. Students will wear uniforms for the afternoon performance and dress up in the evening. Performers should report to their homerooms before the evening performance by 5:45pm. All 3rd-5th graders will perform at both concerts – please contact Mrs. Tucksen at [email protected] if your student will be absent from a performance. Thank you and we look forward to singing for you!

Here's what we are working on:
Math: The math quiz on Tuesday, will cover finding equivalent fractions using division and line plots. A study guide will be completed on Monday. After the quiz we will begin decimals. We will start by thinking about money and also build on our understanding of fractions as we begin decimals.
Social Studies: This week in Social Studies we will finish up our assessment project. It is titled; “Explore a Destination.” Each student will present their research on the specific destination in Nebraska that they chose.

Science: Earth Features. In Lesson 2.1 students will record inferences about the story, “Through the Eyes of a Geologist”, where they will note the geologists’ observations, their scientific ideas, and their inferences about the past environment. We will also read “Fossil Hunter’s Handbook” and search for information about our mystery fossil.
Reading: Unit 5 Week 2 - this week, students will read two realistic fiction stories. Their U5W1 test will be on Friday, April 19th. We will finish presenting cereal boxes this week. Stories this Week:

Big Book: Apples to Oregon
Overview of the Week:
Weekly Concept: On the Move
Essential Question: What are some reasons people moved west?
Comprehension Skill: Cause and Effect
Comprehension Strategy: Visualize
Genre: Tall Tale
Vocabulary: Homographs
Language Arts: The students will finish up our unit on verbs and complete a study guide in class. We will take the Chapter 5 test over verbs on Friday, April 19th. In Writing, the students will continue with our Poetry Unit. We will focus on an I am poem.
Spelling: The students will have a spelling test on Wednesday, April 17th over Unit 5 week 3 words. They will also have a spelling contract that will need to be completed by 4/17.
Religion: At the beginning of the week, we will complete our billboards on The Greatest Commandment and later in the week begin discussing the Corporal Works of Mercy.
Please make sure your child is checking their Friday Folder and returning it empty to me. It is important to check to see if there are any corrections in their Friday Folder that need to be done over the weekend.
